Biography

Amy Laffan is the First Assistant Secretary of the Quality and Assurance Division, which is responsible for aged care’s quality reforms, including the new aged care Act, improving choice and transparency for consumers, strengthening providers, aligning the regulatory system and ensuring value for money through program assurance.

Amy has over 20 years’ experience in the Australian Public Service, with the last eight years at the Department of Health and Aged Care. She has worked on a number of social policy issues including violence against women and their children, problem gambling and homelessness. Amy has also worked on Indigenous Affairs, including Aboriginal Land Reform.

Amy has a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Queensland.
