Abstract

Transformation and change – two words that the aged care sector is hearing loud and clear.

To transform a whole sector takes one unified vision. To make change happen takes strong leadership. Whether you are a large or small provider, for profit not for profit the management team’s skill mix and capabilities are the key to succeeding. All too often we see the left hand not talking to the right, double handling and inefficiencies – which generally comes down to poor communication, role clarity and delegation.

As a Board member, CEO or Manager having a deep understanding of what is required from a legislative perspective and also recognising where your gaps are is invaluable. This takes effort and being present in the business as well as working on the business, a balance that can be challenging.

In an ideal scenario, a leader should be able to take time away from work confident in knowing that the machine you built is well oiled and running smoothly.

To achieve this takes ingenuity, foresight and planning – to have the right person in the right place at the right time. Like any team sport or any business, knowing what each other is doing, having clarity in the part we play and understanding how you compliment others is fundamental to success. Aged Care is no different. The greatest investment you can make is in your people – your reputation is on the line.

During this session, we will be looking at;

  • What makes a successful management team,
  • How to transform your managers to become high performing,
  • The attributes of individuals in the team,
  • Board responsibilities in ensuring a high-performing team,
  • The importance and role of advisory boards.

What makes a successful, high performing management team? Leadership takes resilience, ingenuity, foresight and

planning – ensure you have right person in the right place at the right time
