Speaker Bio

I’ve been working for, in and with community organisations now for 30 years. It’s the simplicity of community leaders and members wanting to make a difference in the lives of people in need, regardless of their socio-economic status, age and circumstances in life that brings me back every time. Communities are where change happens, where lives matter and people come together to be more than they are individually.

In my role at Pluss Communities I get to be deeply embedded in helping communities do community better. This time it’s through the software they use to connect, engage and manage their members.

We focus on organisations that have a gathered or non-gathered community to manage, want to create a feature-rich, dynamic experience for their members where great two-way communications are at its core. At the moment, they try and solve this problem by a mixture of email, paper, phone calls, SMS, a customer web portal, and Facebook groups. None of those community-building-focused organisations are happy with that combination. Their options are to do nothing and live with the pain, pay for the development of their own app, which they can’t afford and can’t maintain, or choose a single vertical unbranded app that takes away from their brand and has limited flexibility.

Pluss gives organisations and communities access to feature-rich, modular app development through the Pluss Communities App builder, for up to one-fifth of the cost in a fraction of the time. Our ambition is to commoditise the creation of on-demand scalable and configurable white-label app solutions for gathered and non-gathered communities through automation. With the emergence of developer-driven modular app platforms such as Appy Pie, Kodular and Thunkable, combined with the rise of community portals, the time to capture the drag and drop mass market for app building and management is here.
