As a passionate aged care worker and advocate, I’ve been lucky enough to create a positive impact on the lives of over 4000+ RACF residents.
For a number of years I have been disappointed with the quality of allied health service delivery in the aged care setting. Large external providers have created a “one-size fits all approach”, where services are rapidly implemented, under resourced and poorly monitored. The focus on generating ACFI revenue has led to a narrowed view, particularly in regards to the scope of practice of physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Evidence based practice and clinical reasoning has been abandoned for the sake of passive, repetitive and ineffective treatment methods.
The team at Guide Healthcare are dedicated to doing things differently. Our systems are designed to promote the education and empowerment of residents and their communities, with a view to achieving better healthcare outcomes. We want to “give-back” to our clients, through social justice initiatives which allow our clients to have access to the best equipment, the best clinicians and the best services.
With my background in physiotherapy, I am passionate about delivering programs which go beyond basic assessments and reviews, pain management treatments and manual handling training. It is our responsibility as health professionals to guide our clients towards achieving their goals.
