Vanessa is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) and has 28 years of experience in the field of health promotion, nutrition policy and advocacy, nutrition marketing and health & fitness writing. As a Senior Policy Officer for Dietitians Australia, Vanessa plays a key role in advocating for dietitians and achieving policy change.

Aged care is a key portfolio that Vanessa looks after at Dietitians Australia. Vanessa has been instrumental in the development of Dietitian Australia’s eight ‘Nutrition in Aged Care’ Position Statements and in the preparation of submissions to the Aged Care Royal Commission and the Department of Health & Aged Care on various aged care issues. Equally important has been Vanessa’s contribution to the draft revised Aged Care Quality Standards for food and nutrition, as well as to the development of resources for aged care providers and residents on food, nutrition and the dining experience for the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

Vanessa continues to work strategically and collaboratively with colleagues, key stakeholders and decision makers to improve the quality of life of older Australians through access to best-practice nutrition care, appealing nutritious food and a pleasant dining experience.
